  • Hello !

this wiki is absolutly adoreable! I can see how much effort you and other people put into this project. I do and will always love Nichijou. And I secretly still wait for a second season since 2011 lol...

And I have to know it: Can I download this cute Sakamoto Cursor somewhere? (;*△*;)

Keep it up and have a nice day :)

    • Thank you! And I think we all would like another season (for me, it's especially because there are so many chapters from later volumes that I NEED to see animated).

As for the cute Sakamoto Cursor... I have no idea how that works. Okaminarutofan999 came up with that. The images that make up the cursor are in the discussion linked below, if that helps (or is what you're actually looking for):

  • Hi!
I'm quite impressed with how you keep working with wiki. Many abandon wikis after a month or even a week of work, like me... But in your case, you make wiki better from the end of 2014. This is quite astonishing for me personally!
Best wishes from me, don't get tired of wiki! ^^

    • Hello, and thank you! I always appreciate unsolicited compliments. Like, so much (confidence issues and all that). This wiki is a bit of a pet project of mine, so I'm going to be here for a while.

(Also, I find it an astonishing coincidence that your username is PeregrinTooktook, as just this morning I was reading Lord of the Rings; specifically, the two chapters in Volume II that tell us what happened to Merry and Pippin. I've had the books for quite some time now, but only started reading the second volume yesterday, so interesting timing.)

  • Hey, I'm here to discuss with you about my admin rights.

If you want to, you can remove my admin rights since I know my activity has severely decreased over the last few months.

Of course, as you know, this is not due to me losing an interest in the series or the Wiki itself, but because of this "illness" that refuses to go away that has been draining my motivation to edit on a lot of other Wiki's.

I haven't been getting the proper medical care that I need, as we don't have the most reliable of transportation. If I had actually got more attention in curing whatever this is, I could have been feeling better by now instead of still sitting here, still wondering what's going on. I still don't even know what this is for sure since something may have interfered with the test results. I don't know if it's serious, common, or what. But my guess is that it isn't common, since this has been going on for ALMOST 7 months now.

I've mostly been doing rather simple or minor edits to other Wiki's lately. And I only really edit on the Wiki's I'm an admin on just to make sure some random user doesn't come by and potentially adopt them, since I DO plan on returning to them. And that includes this Wiki, since I do plan on being active here again whenever I feel better, I just don't know when that will be.

But yes, I do apologize for not doing my job properly, and if I am demoted, I'll still one day finish the tasks that I have given myself, even if it might take a while.

    • No need to apologize! Since you do intend to come back, and since letting someone keep admin rights doesn't cause problems (as far as I know; assuming said user isn't abusing that power, I guess), I don't see any reason to "demote" you or anything. If you really want me to for some reason, I guess I could, but if you're only feeling some sort of obligation, don't worry about. From my viewpoint, removing someone's admin rights because they're dealing with an illness seems... rather insensitive, to put it politely. Just worry about getting better.

  • I don't think I've seen a vandal around here before, but it was bound to happen.  I used the F3 "Search page" function to count, and Techman129 spammed exactly 125 explicit links on the Yuuko page.  I've reported him to VSTF, but in the mean time I would recommend setting a 100 year ban to his IP and subsequent IPs (only wikia staff can set a true permanent ban).  The wiki I run was hit with a huge wave of vandalism last year, so just be wary in case more vandals show up.  I've seen some crazy elaborate vandalism on the Pikmin wiki, including one time where all pictures of a character named Louie had the face of stand up comedian Louis CK shopped on to them, but having a page filled with 125 links is beyond absurd.  Vandals never cease to amaze.

The new manga arrived to much hype in Japan, and Arawi seems pretty excited about it, so it looks like City is going to be around a a while.  I know there's still a lot of work to be done here, but I think we should go ahead and set up the base for a City Wiki.  Since the manga is brand new, there won't be too much info to fill in right away and it will be much easier to manage, so it wouldn't take much time away from here.  People are already making comparisons, so hopefully fans who find out about Arawi Keiichi's work through City will be directed to Nichijou.  Having a good City Wiki from the get-go wil make it easy to direct users here and hopefully form a good community from the new wave of fans.

    • I was just going to do what the Azumanga Daioh wiki did with Yotsuba&!...

But yeah, if there actually is a wave of City fans, I'd be happy to contribute to an independent wiki in any way that I can. (Which again makes me want to look into forming some sort of affiliate of similar humor manga; a "you might also like" group, if you will.) I don't know anything about actually starting a wiki.

    • My reasoning has two parts: first is that it would be easy for City information to get buried here until the manga had been going for at least a few years, and the overly Nichijou theme of the site might make City seem like a lesser spinoff (which it essentially is right now, but that might be different in a few years.)  The second part is more about damage control.  The wiki I run, the Pikmin Wiki suffers from a bad split community and I'm kind of afraid that a new fan would make a City Wiki and form some sort of rivalry.  It seems unlikely, but Pikmin is a pretty obscure game with a close nit community, and it ended up happening there, so it's not impossible.  While I am kind of afraid of a split community happening in the future, I also mainly think it would fun to design a new wiki as being part of the Nichijou Wiki but having different aesthetics.  Having a dual purpose wiki like the Azumanga Daioh Wiki is fine if you want to go that route, but if you're fine with having a City Wiki, I'll set it up as a counterpart to this one, carrying over your and Okaminarutofan999's admin rights and linking to here on the front page.  Be aware that I like to think big and my ideas can be impractical, so if you think having to run a second wiki would be too much hassle, I won't take offense if you would rather keep the information centralized here, that's why I'm asking you instead of running off and starting a new wiki on my own.

    • I guess I don't really see a reason why we can't both have an independent, though affiliated, City wiki while having at least basic City info on the Nichijou wiki, with a link to the City wiki on it or something.

But really, I'd be more concerned with potential bloat as City continues than with a split community; there are, like, three people on here. If this were the Japanese wiki, there could be cause for concern, maybe.

Verdict: Go ahead and make a City wiki if you'd like; City will probably be around a while, so we'll eventually need one, and it would probably go a lot smoother to build something before you need it. And I will work on the City wiki as info comes out (or gets translated, more likely).

  • Hey there!  I hope you don't think I forgot about this place.  I sincerely apologize for being inactive for so long, I've had a crazy busy year, but I've still been checking in and it's been awesome to watch this place quickly grow over the last few months.  I'm not sure how things are going to end up, but hopefully this Thanksgiving I'll have time to work on that Story Arc project I started a while ago.  In addition, I've been studying Computer Science and I'm much better with code at this point, so I'd be happy to help with that as well.  I'm hoping to have some more time to edit in these next few months, so if there's anything in particular you need help with, let me know.

  • May I ask your opinion on this?

      Loading editor
    • Oh my, I've never really had to deal with actual issues before; this was basically a wiki in sandbox mode.

I can see Tyrant Eye's point about the glowing links (white on white), and pretty much agree with removing that effect on headers and the wiki-nav. But I'm not having any particular trouble with reading it, either; maybe a darker "glow" around the link would help? Maybe the darker blue their uniform's skirts have, to keep up the uniform color theme. (Or whatever.)

I'd say the cursor stays, though, barring further complaints from others. I can see the use of the I-bar when you're typing or editing, though; would there be a way to disable Sakamoto just when someone is editing something? If not, I'd just let it be for now.

As for the wiki-nav gradient, I really have no opinion; both look good to me. However, looking closer, I don't like the apparent gradient in the new logo around the black text. 日常 always appears in the anime and the manga as rather crisp and clear and simple, a somewhat minimalist style I'd like to keep. I like everything else- the layout and positioning of the words, using the same font for "nichijou" they use, the multiple colors... (Although, if you could somehow incorporate that little yellow bird that keeps popping up, without it looking like it was just plopped there, that would be pretty clever, I think.)

A poll of wiki users would be great, but how many people are on here?

think I covered everything. Let me know if you need clarification or anything.

  • Would you mind if I added the Nichijou openings to their song pages?

    Like for example:

Could I add the first Nichijou opening to this page

    http://nichijou.wikia.com/wiki/Hyadain_no_Kakakata_Kataomoi-C

If you approve of this, I can also try to find HD creditless videos of the endings, but that'll be a much harder search.

  • I would like to apologize for not working on the galleries. I've been sick lately, and haven't felt like doing much of anything. ^^"

My editing on Wikia's in general has kind of decreased because of this, but I promise I'll get back to working on the galleries when I feel a bit better ^^
