The Magic Encyclopedia of the Fey Kingdom, containing various information of artefacts and items, including the wooden cubes
The two Wooden Cubes are artifacts of the Fey Kingdom which can give the possessor of the cubes the power of the ancient weapon, giving the possessor the capability to destroy the world, granted they are holding both of the cubes. Mio Naganohara wears them as hair clips.

Episode 7[]
First time wooden cube were mentioned where King Albert get caught by Dolph Military Staff, Dolph then gets up, walks over to the king and reaches into the breast pocket of Albert's robe, pulling out a simple wooden cube. Dolph's henchmen, asking each other if they've seen the princess. She ducks behind a wall as several henchmen walk past, and then looks at the item she has been holding tight in her hands: an identical wooden cube. The princess is trapped, held back at gunpoint by Dolph's henchmen. She asks them what they think they are doing; don't they know their place? Dolph then arrives and addresses Princess Starla. She asks him if he knows what he is doing, and he replies he knows exactly what he's doing: He will take the wooden cubes and resurrect the ancient weapon, and become the new king of the Fey Kingdom. He tells her she has no friends here and she cannot escape, so be a good girl and hand over the other wooden cube! He walks towards her, menacingly. However, he suddenly trips over himself and falls on the floor. Everyone is shocked. Dolph isn't moving; a henchman cautiously approaches Dolph and takes his pulse. Dolph is dead! Everyone is shocked. The henchmen begin clapping for Princess Starla, and she orders them to escort her to her father. As the last henchman leaves the room, he notices that the princess had dropped her cube on the floor. He picks it up, and realizes that the other cube is on the floor where Dolph dropped it as he died. The henchman picks up the other cube. Before the thought of taking over the kingdom himself gets to his head he opens the window and sets the cubes on the sill, lighting a cigarette to help him think. As he comes to the conclusion that he couldn't possibly usurp the throne even if he wanted to (as he has no idea how to activate the ancient weapon), he accidentally knocks the cubes off the windowsill. As they fall, he reaches out to grab them but misses. The cubes continue to fall, eventually landing in Mio's hair.
Episode 21[]
The soldiers are in search for a lost wooden cube inside the airship, when they are confronted by a mysterious girl which demands the soldiers for the other wooden cube, while one of the cubes was tied to her hair. One of the soldiers, Soldier 22 tries to confront her, but he is killed by the girl, which already possessed one half of the cube's power. The Military Staff tries to negotiate an alliance with the girl with the other wooden cube, but is also killed, and the other Wooden Cube taken.
